Of course, being a mom is wonderful and has brought me more joy than I could ever imagine,
but with all of that love and joy comes a whole lot of stuff. From diapers and wipes, to food and
formula, it’s hard to remember it all.
I have a sweet 10 month old at home who lights up my life. And as my husband and I are preparing for our first trip without her, I’m realizing how much stuff she needs for her vacation at Grandma’s, on top of packing my own bags. I’m so grateful for those subtle reminders in life that keep me on top of my To Do list!
Forget About Forgetting
Last night, after I made my usual Amazon purchase of Babyganics Dryer Sheets and Burt’s Bees bath wash, I was beyond grateful to be retargeted an ad for sunscreen, as I ventured over to catch up on the latest celebrity news on People.com. Right there on the screen, was the exact sunscreen I’d been looking at earlier. I was so focused on making sure I had everything I need for the baby, I forgot about my own needs.
As working parents, we’re constantly multitasking and jumping from one thing to the next. On one list or another, I had ‘order sunscreen,’ but still hadn’t bought it. This isn’t the first time display ads has reminded me that I forgot to purchase something I really needed. I find more and more that ads that are retargeted to me are actually saving me from scrambling.
Retargeted ads are served to me after I put a product in my shopping cart and then leave the site. A quick example: my daughter needed a few outfits for daycare, and I put them in the cart on Carters.com, but never bought them. The very next day, I saw an ad for the exact items I had in my cart, showcasing a major sale, so I was able to add some additional outfits into the cart and now my baby, who’s growing like a weed, has clothes that fit for daycare.
Time is more valuable than ever these days, so when a technology like retargeting can make my life easier, I’m more apt to partake.
