For years I have wanted to work in the exciting and ever-changing world of media. It has been a passion of mine for years, and of course one of the dream companies that comes to mind when embarking on a career path like this is Time Inc. Time Inc., and its numerous subsidiaries, has the impeccable reputation of inspiring, entertaining, building, inventing, and transforming the world of media. With more than 50 global offices and 100 brands—including data-darling Viant—Time Inc. is one of the largest media entities in the world. So you can imagine my excitement when I was offered a coveted internship at one of Time Inc.’s very own media planning and buying companies, MNI Targeted Media Inc.
So far, my experience at MNI Targeted Media Inc. has been nothing short of amazing. I have been able to experience a fun, friendly, and exciting environment, where I am both learning about and contributing to numerous projects and assignments that help the company’s progress and productivity. I have gotten to know and work with many people, including my fellow interns, who not only assist me with projects, but make coming to work more fun. It’s great to know that I have other people to relate to, and learn from, on a daily basis.
Since being a part of this company, I have learned more about print and digital media and marketing than ever before, and I am excitedto see how I can apply my new skills now and into the future. It has been an amazing feeling to know that every day, the knowledge I gain is only helping me to grow as a valuable member of the media world.
I have been a part of numerous media planning projects so far as an MNI Targeted Media intern, including updating online and offline creative presentations, blogging about my experiences and media interests, attending numerous meetings where I get to share my insight as to how to help our national sales team, and ideating different ways to spread the word about specific brands we work closely with.
In addition to the work I get to do at such a great media buying company, I also get to take advantage of so many opportunities through Time Inc., including Time Inc.-Tern events. These events allow my fellow interns and me to connect with those who work in the NYC media planning office. We get to branch out and learn about their experiences with different brands and positions, as well as to make connections with people who started out as interns and now work for Time Inc. full time. It has made me so excited working in a business where so many people love what they do and enjoy being a part of something so successful and rewarding.
Being a part of one of Time Inc.’s digital media buying companies, MNI Targeted Media has been a very fulfilling experience. I have gained so much experience, learned from the best, contributed, and so far, feel as if I have been taking as much advantage of my time here as possible. Although it has only been a few weeks, I am very excited and eager to see what is in store for the rest of the summer and my future with Time Inc., and I hope to learn as much as I can along the way.
